TITLE OF PROJECT: Repair Historic Sala Burton Maritime Museum Building DESCRIPTION: The Sala Burton Maritime Museum Building is a National Historic Landmark. This project involves historic rehabilitation of the building. The main concern on this project involves the stainless steel windows and doors replacement. The window systems are curved and consist of numerous smaller windows that match the contour of the building. After removal of the deteriorated windows and frames, new stainless steel frames will be installed. Then the new glazing will be installed. In each section, a stainless steel cladding will be installed over the frame and around the separate windows. The cladding will be welded together and polished smooth so that a seamless appearance is achieved. The work consists of replacement or restoration of the windows and doors of the Sala Burton Maritime Museum Building on all floors, replacement of the existing roof systems at the second floor, third floor, and fourth floor roof decks, and replication of the original glass block wall assembly at the third floor. The following items are included: " Complete removal of designated existing stainless steel clad metal windows and doors and replacement with a new stainless steel window wall system. " Complete removal of designated steel windows and replacement with new painted galvanized steel windows. " Salvage, rehabilitation, and reinstallation of existing window and door hardware at all windows and doors to be replaced. " Cleaning and restoration of designated existing stainless steel clad metal windows and doors at second floor. " Repair of concrete, ceramic tile, plaster, and terrazzo where damaged due to deterioration of existing window and door elements. " Removal of existing roof system and installation of new tapered lightweight concrete topping, waterproofing membrane, and clay tiles at designated roof decks. " Clearing of existing drain pipes and installation of new drain catch basins, risers, and horizontal leaders at flat roof drains. " Waterproofing of parapet walls at roof decks, including patching of spalls and cracks in concrete. " Restoration of existing sheet metal canopy roofs on north and south fa?ades. " Removal and salvage for reuse of existing flagpoles and miscellaneous roofing accessories. Clean, repair, and reinstall as required. " Fabrication and installation of new stainless steel support frame for remounting of flood lights and ballasts at fourth floor roof curb. " Demolition of existing glass block wall assembly and construction of new glass block wall at third floor pantry. " Rehabilitation of existing mechanical and electrical equipment including inspection and repair of funnel-shaped roof ventilators, documentation and removal of existing ventilator at glass block assembly, and remounting of flood light fixtures and ballasts.
