Description

This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Station Support/Simplified Acquisitions (SS/SA) Branch on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive basis to APPROPRIATE TECHNICAL RESOURCES, INC. P.O. BOX 460 LAUEL, MD 20725-0460, for two additional Infos shakers, in specific the MULTITRON II and comparable components. The NINDS research focuses on the structure determination of integral membrane proteins, with emphasis on seven-helix G-protein-coupled receptors. In order for the protocol Entitled: ?Expression of Recombinant Integral Membrane Proteins,? headed by Dr. Reinhard Grisshammer M.D. to continue these additional Infos shakers create a critical part of the outcome of the bacterial growth. This sole source acquisition therefore is justified under the authority contained in 41 U. S.C. 253 ? (1) and FAR 6.302-1 (a) (2), states that: ?When the supplies or services required by the agency are available from only one responsible source, and on other type of supplies or services will satisfy agency requirement full and competition need not be provided for.? The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 339111 and the Size Standard is 500. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR 13 procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NO1-60089 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisitions Branch, 31 Center Drive, 1B59, Bethesda, MD 20892, Attention: Rosie C. Owens, Contracting Officer.
