Description
Description: The Bureau of Reclamation intends to award on a competitive basis a requirement for a natural resource consultant to manage a native species field nursery (estimated 9 acres), currently maintaining approximately 80 (of a potential 156) species of grasses, forbs and shrubs endemic to the central western San Joaquin Valley of California (close to Stockton, CA). This nursery serves primarily for foundation propagule (predominantly seed) production; research on propagation, management inputs, and weed control techniques; and public education / demonstration. The nursery was established in 2000 to provide these services under the auspices of the federal Land Retirement Demonstration Project (LRDP), a component of the Central Valley Project Improvement Act (CVPIA; Public Law 102-575, Title 34, Section 3408(h); 1992), coordinated by the Bureau of Reclamation (LRDP headquarters office: Fresno, CA). Contractor required services include but are not limited to irrigation, weed control, pest control, nursery structure maintenance, equipment maintenance, seed/propagule collection, plant population maintenance, ecological maintenance, seed cleaning/processing/bagging, and seed and storage documentation. Offerors will be required to have some horticultural/environmental and plant experience with numerous species and environmental conditions in the central western San Joaquin Valley of California. Any firm that believes it can execute the pending requirement is encouraged to obtain a copy of the Request for Quotation from the Contracting Officer. All contractors requesting a copy of the Request for Quotation within 17 calendar days of the date of publication of the synopsis period will be forwarded a copy of the Request for Quotation. Please note that based on how Fed-Biz Ops posts a synopsis, the "Post Date" is the first day of the synopsis publication, and the "Original Response Date/Current Response Date" equates to the expiration date of the synopsis, not the due date of any proposal. Inquiries will only be accepted by Fax at (303) 445-6345, Attention: Ann R. Manning. Responses should include the firm's business size [e.g. small business, other than small business] in accordance with the size standard: $.75 Million for North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code 111421.
