Description

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Geography Discipline, requires a prototype web portal, based on a commercially available application, to increase public access to and use of " the USGS's National Land Cover Database (NLCD). The USGS will use the application as a generic "query portal" for the NLCD to allow users to define a geographic area of interest (AOI) and retrieve statistical summaries of each of the land cover types within the specified AOI. The application must produce summaries of land cover classes within pre-defined AOI's, including cities and towns, counties, census blocks, drainage basins, ecological regions, and congressional districts. These results need to be displayed and made available for download as maps, charts, graphs and in tabular form. The web-application must compare NLCD 1992 and NLCD 2001 Anderson Level 1 classifications and produce a report of differences. The entire application must be web based and accessible through any standard web browser. The NAICS Code is 334111. Award under the Simplified Acquisition Threshold is anticipated. Proposals are due at 4:00 pm EST on August 2, 2006. All responsible sources must be registered in the Contractor's Central Registration (CCR) which can be accessed at http://www.ccr.gov.
