Description
In accordance with FAR subpart 13.106(b)(1) the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to issue a sole source purchase order to the Caribbean Primate Research Center in the amount of $60,000.00 to conduct a study on aged non-human primates greater than 15 years old in Sabana Seca, Puerto Rico. The purpose of the study is to establish a non-human primate model of West Nile Virus (WNV) encephalitis in aged- animals. The data obtained from this study will determine whether this is an appropriate model to study WNV neuroinvasive disease and the important factors that regulate the pathogenesis of WNV. CDC believes that the Caribbean Primate Research Center is the only organization that can meet the requirements because Caribbean Primate Research Center is the only monkey colony that has the number and availability of monkeys over the age of 15 years old necessary for the study. Interested parties who feel that they possess the capabilities to satisfy this requirement should submit a capability statement demonstrating their abilities to meet this requirement. The information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. Please send your documentation to Ronnie Francis at the office identified above, by fax (770) 488-2688 or by e-mail to efi8@cdc.gov. Documentation should be received within fifteen (15) days after the date of publication of this synopsis to be considered by CDC. A determination by the CDC not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government.
