Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Alcoholism and Alcohol Abuse (NIAAA) is seeking to obtain, through experimental measurement, quantitative information on the delivery of alcohol through devices that aerosolize alcohol, including concentrations and rates of delivery, in addition to quantitative measurement on pharmacokinetics of the alcohol once inhaled. Because of their similarity to humans, non-human primates should be used as the test subjects. The Request for Quote (RFQ) will provide the Statement of Work which will give more information. This service is to be done at the Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). To the best of the Governments knowledge the proposed contractor is the only known source which is able to conduct the study of inhaled drugs of abuse in primates which also has the necessary facilities, staff, experience, and primates to perform the study. Interested vendors may identify in writing their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting Office prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however; all responses received, before the closing date, of this announcement will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. It is anticipated that the Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-06-940 will be available fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis.
