Description
The United States Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM), U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), Acquisition Center, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000 on behalf of the Office of PM Soldier Weapons, has a requirement for a production ready Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station (CROWS). The CROWS is a remote weapon station capable of mounting the MK19 grenade machine gun (GMG), M2 HB machine gun (MG), M240B machine gun (MG) or M249 squad automatic weapon (SAW). The CROWS is a multi- vehicle weapon mounting and control system which will allow the gunner to remain inside the vehicle protected by armor while firing the weapon. The CROWS provides remote day and night sighting, ballistic control capability, remote weapon charging, and first burst engagement of targets at the maximum effective range of the weapon. The CROWS weapon and sight are stabilized for on-the-move identification and engagement of targets. The CROWS will include as a minimum: the weapon mount above the roof to include sensors, a fire control processor, display and controls, and other associated hardware. The CROWS will be integrated into various turreted/non-turreted and ring-mount equipped vehicles and will provide a modern automated weapon system that enhances system lethality, increases battle space awareness, and provides digital integration opportunities. The CROWS will provide protection for the gunner and enhanced target acquisition, identification, and engagement capabilities to non-turreted armored vehicles which currently place the unprotected gunner at high risk from enemy direct and indirect fire weapon systems. The Solicitation number for this is W15QKN-06-R-1409.
