Description
CONTACT Russell Brown, Electronics Engineer,(732) 532-3831. EMAIL ADDRESS: russell.brown@mail1.monmouth.army.mil. US Army is seeking sources for a Variometer, NSN 5950-00-407-7305, which is used with the AN/TRN-30 Non-Directional Navigation Beacon. S ome of the technical specifications are as follows: The body of the variometer is 3.38 inches L x 3.0 inches W x 3.75 inches H. The rotor axle protrudes 1.01 inch on the drive end, and extends 0.6 inch on the free end. Some of the Variometer performance re quirements are: minimum impedance at 500KHz less than 70 Ohms, maximum impedance at 500KHz greater than 900 Ohms, self resonance greater than 1500KHz, and -Q- value greater than 200 at the maximum impedance setting. The variometer also requires a central t ap. The electrical connections to the rotating winding must to be able to tolerate thousands of consecutive turns in either direction. The assembly must be fully operable from 0 degrees Fahrenheit to 170 degrees Fahrenheit. The Government owns drawings, in cluding the full test specification for the existing variometer, and they are available to potential bidders upon request. Please note the age of the Government drawings - the Variometer drawings were prepared circa 1970, and they may cite parts which are no longer available. The original equipment manufacturer for the AN/TRN-30 was Hoffman Electronics, El Monte, California. The company presently appears to be named NAVCOM Electronics. The Beacon itself was last procured by the government in 1990 and that m anufacturer, Cage Code. 0D2L6, is no longer active. The Government expects to buy 25 variometers with options for additional quantities. The POC for this survey is Mr. Russell Brown,EMAIL ADDRESS: russell.brown@mail1.monmouth.army.mil, (732) 532-3831.
