- Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to award a modification to the current sole-source contract with L-3 Titan Advanced Systems, 9924 Carroll Canyon Road, San Diego, CA 92127. As did the original awarded contract, this will be awarded pursuant to USC 2304(c)(1). . AWS is a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) based long range loitering missile for attack of fixed targets, defense suppression, wide area surveillance/targeting. AWS is a 140-220 knot missile with an approximate range of 600 nautical miles. The missile is approximately 155? in length, 13.5? in diameter, with a 146.4? wing span. The missiles are shipped and deployed in launch canisters. Nine canisters are installed on a deck mounted launcher that elevates to fire the missiles. The purpose of this procurement is to complete the AW development through the fabrication and testing of the Spiral 1 system for this contractor-defined program. Flight tests will be conducted to measure missile performance! (range, accuracy, altitude, endurance and terminal events). Government activities will assess the overall system to gain a clear understanding of system capabilities and limitations, cost, interoperability, compatibility/safety related to shipboard environment, and the capability of AWS to meet Navy integration requirements.
