Description
This is a notice of intent to award a sole source purchase order to Gamma Vacuum, LLC for purchase of the following items: Part: 600L-CV-8D-SC-110-TSPC/ 600L Ion Pump with TITan CV Elements (600 I/s), Double 8" CFF, SAFECONN Feedthrough 110V Heater (Installed) TSP W/Cryo Shroud (Installed). Also Includes: 380048 Safe Conn Cable 10M; Quantity: 1; Unit: Each. Part: 300L-CV-8D-SC-110-TSPC/ 300L Ion Pump with TiTan CV Elements (300 I/s) Double 8" CFF, SAFECONN Feedthrough 100V Heater (Installed) TSP W/Cryo Shroud (Installed). Also includes: 380048 Safe Conn Cable 10M; Quantity: 1; Unit: Each. Part: MPC-2-US110-232-N-TSP6/ DIGITEL MPC with: HV Supply One: 500-POS-7KV-K1, HV Supply Two: 500-POS-7KV-K1, Remote TSP Controller 6M cable. Also includes TSP Control Cable 380049 3M; Quantity: 2; Unit: Each. Unique design, compatibility, interchangeability with NIST’s existing equipment and unique dimensions of the Gamma Vacuum Ion Pump systems are the basis of this sole source notice of intent. The Gamma Vacuum Ion Pump items described above will be utilized at the National Synchrotron Light Source beamlines U7A and X24A will be constrained to fit an existing NIST x-ray materials characterization facilities. Compatibility and interchangeability with NIST’s existing Gamma Vacuum Ion Pump systems is critical. This equipment will be used at a remote site (NSLS) in 24/7 operation located at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Rapid interchangeability with NIST’s existing equipment (between beamlines) is very important in order to maintain a high level of up time and is imperative to the success of NIST research. Furthermore, only one set of spare parts for all Gamma Vacuum Ion Pump systems is needed, reducing costs. Gamma Vacuum Ion Pumps (10) are used in NIST’s existing NIST x-ray materials characterization beamlines. Gamma Vacuum Ion Pumps to be purchased via this procurement have physical dimensions that are critical to fit within the existing NIST x-ray materials beamlines. If other components were to be used, this would require unreasonable allocation of manpower to rebuild and redesign the beamline vacuum system. The Gamma Vacuum Ion Pump systems are the only known available ion pumps with the characteristics of the Low Profile designs. No other manufacturer is known to NIST to offer a closed magnetic loop or heights of less than 12 inches. The AutoStart/AutoRun features are also unique to Gamma. The above unique Gamma Vacuum ion pump factors are essential for the 24/7 operation of NIST’s beamline facilities. Based on market research conducted by NIST, NIST has only been able to identify one potential source to provide the required items that meet the compatibility and interchangeability requirements noted above: Gamma Vacuum, LLC. Therefore, NIST intends to award a sole source purchase order to Gamma Vacuum, LLC under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b) unless other responsible sources identify themselves to joseph.widdup@nist.gov on or before the response date for this posting and clearly and unequivocally demonstrate their capability to provide the required items. The Government will determine, based on written responses received in response to this posted notice, whether this procurement will be competed. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (26-JUL-2006); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
