Description
The purpose of Amendment No. 2 is to provide responses to the following questions: Questions: For the envelope conveyors, I measured an Overall Width (OAW) of 15” and a Between Frame (BF) width of 12”. The solicitation indicates a 16” OAW and nothing regarding the BF measurement. Can you please have someone validate these measurements? When giving the measurements, can you specify what was being measured? For example, from outer edge to outer edge or inner edge to inner edge, floor to the top of the conveyor, etc. Please verify width of envelope slotted conveyor, solicitation list 16”. Response: The envelope conveyor measurements are: 141’1” in length, 12-1/4” inside to inside, 15” outside to outside, floor to top of conveyor without the envelope slots is 14-3/4” high. The rollers are 3” center (center from one roller to the next). The center conveyor is 145’2” in length, 16-3/4” inside to inside, 18-1/4” outside to outside, floor to top of conveyor is 31-1/4” high. The rollers are 3-1/4” center (center from one roller to the next). Question: Please verify the herring bone section of conveyor is not needed, this can be standard straight roller? Response: Correct, the herring bone section of the conveyor will not be used, this can be a standard straight roller included in the 141’1” length indicated above. Question: What is the speed of the one 160’ long conveyor? Response: The speed would be 65fpm maximum. NDC runs or controls the center line manually with a foot pedal. Question: For the center conveyor, what is the FPM requirement? Response: The speed would be 65fpm maximum. Question: What is the maximum and minimum size (dimensions and weight) of the boxes that will be conveyed? Response: Box sizes range from 11.25 x 8.75 x 2” to 17.5 x 11.5 x 7.25. Weight will run from 5 lbs. to 40 lbs. Question: Can we re-use the motor starters and electrical controls on the existing system of conveyors? Response: No, the motor starters, electrical controls and all parts should be new. In addition, the following information is provided for completion of all offerors: 1) The slots for the envelope conveyor will be removed, categorized for reinstallation and placed on a pallet if applicable by the vendor. The conveyor itself shall be removed by the vendor and placed on a pallet for disposition. NDC will arrange for the disposal of the old conveyor. Once the new conveyor is in place, the “slots” for the envelopes will be re-installed by the vendor on top of the new conveyor in the order/manner in which they were removed; 2) Work tables and floor mats will be removed by NDC prior to the vendor starting work. NDC shall provide pallets for the old conveyor to be placed on for removal if applicable; 3) Provide delivery date for the conveyors; 4) Conveyor warranty information should be provided, 5) The IRS requires a warranty period of at least 1 year following the complete installation of the conveyors; and, 6) The FOB shall be destination. All offerors shall identify in their response cover letter receipt of Amendment Nos. 1 and 2. The close date and time for this solicitation is unchanged and remains due on August 2, 2006, 2:00 p.m., CST.
