- Description
- USACE, Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) proposes to issue a sole source award to Oregon State University, 306 Kerr Administration, Corvallis, OR 97331. A series of wave tests are to be conducted on a scaled physical model of the Lightweight Modular Causeway System (LMCS) being developed by the Engineer Research and Development Center. In order to properly design this structure to be militarily useful, it is necessary to conduct scaled model tests to determine the effects of waves on the structure and its ability to survive in elevated sea states. An existing 1:3 scale model that was built to demonstrate the LMCS compactness, transportability, and abilit y to support a design load is available and optimal for use in such a laboratory study. In order to expose the LMCS model to Sea State 3 wave conditions, a hydraulic test basin with capabilities/features as outlined below is required: (1) 3-dimensional wave basin with dimensions large enough to accommodate a structure with 40ft x 8.5ft area footprint, (2) A multidirectional spectral wave generator capable of producing maximum wave heights of 2ft with corresponding 3.5 second period (Simulates Sea State 3), (3) Water depth of 4ft is preferred, but a minimum of 3ft is sufficient, (4) Two consecutive weeks of uninterrupted testing with on-site technical support staff, and (5) Experimental series must be completed by September 30, 2006. A firm-fixed price award will be made utilizing the Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Any other responsible source able t o provide the services is encouraged to respond to this announcement within 5 days after its publication. This is not a request for quotations and there is no solicitation available at this time.
