Description
The above referenced solicitation is hereby amended to respond to technical questions submitted and to incorporate a technical change into the solicitation. The due date for quotations, 3:30 PM Local Time on August 16, 2006, remains unchanged. 1. Responses are hereby provided to technical questions submitted. QUESTION: Line Item 0001, Specification (b) : Please provide more specific details of what is required. Does this means you are looking for two measurement volumes 25mm x 25mm and 100mm x 100mm? Does the distance from the part need to be 50mm or is the height of the part 50mm? What does 10mm minimum mean? RESPONSE: NIST is looking for one measurement volume that is between 25mm x 25mm x10mm and 100mmx100mmx100mm. The parts we are measuring will have heights up to 10mm. QUESTION: Line Item 0001, Specification (c): Please explain what is meant by "Not less than 6 views". RESPONSE: Placement of cameras and projectors must allow at least 6 viewing angles. For example, if there are 2 fixed cameras, then there should be at least 3 different positions for the projector. This would allow two images each of three different projections, equaling 6 views. QUESTION: Line Item 0001, Specification (e): Across what distance? How many standard deviations? RESPONSE: Measurement uncertainty is the standard deviation of measurements. Number of tests used to obtain this standard deviation, along with the measurement size must be reported. At least 10 measurements with a measurements size of 10mm x10mm is advisable, but not required. QUESTION: Line Item 0001, Specification (f): Across what distance? How many standard deviations? RESPONSE: Spacing of spheres must be at least 10mm. Results must be reported with measurement uncertainty (i.e. one standard deviation. The length deviation should be "less than 15 micrometers". Reference specification change below. QUESTION: Line Item 0001, (h) seems to contradict (d). If the camera pixel spacing meets the requirement in (d), why is a 1392 x 1040 camera required? RESPONSE: This is not contradictory to d. 1392 x 1040 camera (or better) must have pixel spacing less than 5 micrometers. QUESTION: Line Item 0001, Specification (i): Why is a digital projector with three sinusoidal images a requirement? This appears to be a specification defined by a supplier which provides no technical advantage other than to lock superior systems out of the bidding process. RESPONSE: This is a requirement to allow flexibility in the types of patterns NIST will be able to project. It by no means attempts to "lock superior systems out of the bidding process". 2. The following technical change is hereby incorporated: Line Item 0001, Specification (e) is hereby changed as follows: FROM: Measurement uncertainty: Less than 5 micrometers;? TO: Measurement uncertainty: Less than 15 micrometers;?
