Description
The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), intends to negotiate solely with Appropriate Technical Resources, Inc. in Laurel, MD to furnish, deliver, and install at the USDA, ARS, NAA, U.S. Plant, Soil & Nutrition Lab, Tower Road, Ithaca, New York, for an Sixfors Bioreactor System with Six Vessel, components, accessories, and System Software. The system also includes shipping (F.O.B. Destination), standard warranty on the equipment, installation and training. This system will be used to analyze bacterial responses to difference culturing conditions. DEMONSTRATION OF CONTRACTOR?S UNIQUE QUALIFICATIONS: The Sixfors is designed to operate 6 reactor vessels from one compact control unit, which is important because of the limited laboratory space available. Due to restricted laboratory space, the system footprint must be no greater than 3 foot by 2 foot. The system allows for monitoring and the ability to control conditions in each vessel independently. With six reactors, we can compare two conditions X three biological replicas, the minimum required for a typical experiment. The system also permits us to use as many or as few of the reactors as needed, allows us to conduct different experiments that begin at different times, and allows for the use of culture volumes as low as 80ml, which is important when expensive culture components are used so that we can use less of these components. Our selection of this instrument is based on our research on the Internet, contacts with salespeople, and inquiries to other laboratories that use bioreactors. Our information has shown that while other systems satisfy some of our specifications, only the Sixfors system sold by ATR, Inc is able to satisfy all of our specifications. Companies with the demonstrated capability and financial capacity to provide and service such equipment must submit a written substantive statement outlining the Company's and systems' capabilities, available service agreements and consumables (including price lists) to the Contracting Officer within 5 days of publication of this notice. This is not a request for proposal. No solicitation is available.
