- Description
- Concerns having the ability to furnish the services and supplies described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within 14 calendar days from the date of this synopsis. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), National Earthquake Information Center (NEIC), has a requirement for maintenance of 46 unique computer processing systems currently in use at the NEIC, which is part of the Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS). These systems were designed by Mr. William Bennett and customized to meet the specific requirements of the ANSS for dependability, robustness, and performance. The ANSS is currently running production software on 26 of these customized computers, and another 20 systems are being used in the development of ANSS production software. Because these systems are used for monitoring in a mission critical system, immediate response to repair requirements is imperative. Knowledge of and familiarity with the ANSS System is also imperative in order to provide timely resolution or problems. Maintenance requirements are to include the following: 1) Local, on-site support available seven days per week; 2) Repair of critical components within 24 hours of notification of problem. This may be repair of hardware components or Windows 2003 Server operating systems; 3) Trouble shooting, as required, either remotely or on-site; 4) Replacing faulty, or failed, hardware components, at the request of the USGS Project Officer. A local Microsoft-Certified technician is required who is familiar with the architecture, components, and functionality of the 45 custom systems currently in use at the NEIC, as well as the ANSS System. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers the services and supplies specified as a sole source from Mr. William Bennett, Centennial, Colorado, and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required services and supplies are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement, and such other materials which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Government's only official notice of this procurement. THIS ANNOUCEMENT IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY; NO FORMAL RFQ WILL BE AVAILABLE.
