- The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, VISN 6 Centralized Acquisition Service, intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with O.R.Solutions (ORS). This proposed contract action is for the Hush-Slush surgical system for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source under the authority of FAR 603.2. The VA believes that ORS is the only company that can provide a system that maintains a slush solution that must be available for open heart surgery. This system also features quiet operation that allows for reduction of noise in the operating room. The system also automatically stirs the solution saving nursing time and prevents the solution from turning into ice. The solution warmer portion of the system allows the irrigation solution to be warmed to a specific, known temperature. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 7 days from the date of publication of this announcement. Supporting evidence must be in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Information may be sent to the Contracting Office, VA Medical Center, Hampton, Virginia. 23667. Responses received will be evaluated however, a determination by the Government to compete the proposed procurement based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the VA Medical Center will proceed with the sole source negotiation with O.R. Solutions.
