Description
Description: The U.S. Army Apache Attack Helicopter Project Office is seeking sources with innovative approaches, designs, or products for a Modernized Dayside Sensor Assembly (MDSA) on the AH-64A and AH-64D Apache helicopter. The AH-64 is the U.S. Army's primary attack helicopter and is designed to fight during the day, night, and in adverse weather. The AH-64 can be armed with 16 HELLFIRE missiles, a 30mm M230 chain gun, and/or 76 2.75 inch folding fin rockets. The U.S. Army has recently complet ed development of the Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight (MTADS) and the Modernized Pilot Night Vision System (MPNVS). The MDSA will complement and extend the capabilities of the MTADS/MPNVS as well as reduce the logistical burden, operations and sustainment costs, eliminate obsolescence issues, and improve reliability over the current dayside sensor. REQUIREMENTS: The modernized dayside sensor must have an open-systems architecture, fit within the volume of the currently existing dayside (approximately 19 inches in diameter and 11.5 inches in height), and be compatible/interoperable with the MTADS/MPN VS/AH-64(A&D). Capabilities desired include multimode laser rangefinder/designators, mid-wave infrared sensors, color television sensors, image intensification sensors, laser pointers, other sensor technologies, and inertial measurement units. Already p roven packages are preferred that will support a two level maintenance concept. The design must not interfere with the aircraft safety or adversely affect aircraft weight and balance limitations. The U.S. Army seeks qualified vendors to provide conceptual papers, design information, technology availability, maturity, identification of risks, product descriptions, support requirements, reliability data including Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) data addressing all or any part of the requirements or discussion points detailed above. Innovative ideas and solutions are strongly encouraged especially regarding testing and use of modeling and simulation during system development.
