- This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. This is a NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A CONTRACT BASED ON A BRAND NAME REQUIREMENT using the simplified acquisition procedures of FAR Part 13. The US Armys 1st Information Operations Command (1st IO CMD) intends to award a firm-fixed price contract under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Parts 12 and 13. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 423430 with a small business size standar d of 500 employees. DELL Brand Name items are required by 1st IO CMD for lifecycle replacement of desktop workstations. The 1st IO CMD established a baseline initiative using DELL products on its Command and Control networks. The management of such base line ensures the security of the network through patch management and IAVA implementation. Because administration is conducted using the SMS management tool, multiple baselines can not efficiently be managed while maintaining the required security measure s necessary to protect Command and Control information. The 1st IO CMD Enterprise spectrum spans a Wide Area Network covering multiple geographical regions. Because 1st IO CMD network enterprise is comprised primarily of DELL products, consistent and com patible specifications are required to maintain infrastructure integrity. Additionally, maintenance for existing infrastructure is covered and maintained on existing vendor specific contracts. Only DELL produces the Small Form Factor desktop computer. The small form factor desktop is required to meet the limited space requirement imposed as a result of the implementation of multiple workstations per employee workspace. The introduction of a different brand of desktop computer will cause compatibility c onflicts with the existing baseline that receives security updates and patches. The supplies/services required are available from only one or a limited number of responsible sources under the authority of FAR 13.106(b)(1). Interested sources may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. Only Authorized DELL Resellers that are recognized by DELL to sell their product will be considered.
