- Description
- Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), operated by Battelle Memorial Institute under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy, solicits interest from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture and market the following technology (hereinafter referred to as "technology"). License rights may be issued on an exclusive or nonexclusive basis and may include specific fields of use. PNNL may also be available to licensee(s) to assist in further research and development of the technology under a sponsored research agreement or CRADA program. Description of the Invention: It is known that sulfur oxides contribute significantly and deleteriously to the overall performance of diesel engine emission after treatment systems, especially in the case of NOx traps. A silver based, fast regenerable SO2 absorbent has been developed and is available for licensing. This absorbent can work under the same lean-rich cycling conditions as imposed on the NOx traps and can be used to protect both the downstream particulate filter and the NOx trap in the diesel engine emission after treatment system. Over a temperature range of 300 'C to 550'C, it can absorb virtually all of the SO2 in the exhaust gasses during the lean cycles and can be fully regenerated by short rich cycles at the same temperature. Applications on-highway, marine and off-highway diesel engine emission control. Reference 14872-E. Note: THIS IS NOT PROCUREMENT. Any company interested in licensing this technology must respond with a letter of interest (may be submitted by e-mail) no later than 45 days from the publication date of this Notice summarizing the company's business and technical expertise and motivation for pursuing this opportunity. Companies deemed appropriate will be provided with further information on the technology. Such information may require the execution of a Nondisclosure Agreement. Respondents wishing to enter into negotiations for a commercial license will be required to submit a business plan for the commercialization of the technology prior to licensee(s) selection and negotiations. Please send letters of interest to the attention of the POC identified within this Notice. technology@pnl.gov Click here to send an e-mail to a Commercialization Manager at the PNNL Technology Commercialization Office. Please include the above SOL (Solicitation No.) in your reply.
