Description
This is a REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. There is no solicitation package available. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst is seeking Small Business sources that may be capable of producing a New Blade Restraint System (NGBRS), which is used to restrain the blades on the H-60 Helicopters, both land based and shipboard, during winds up to 100 miles per hour. This requirement is currently satisfied by P/N 70700-77515-043, which was originally designed by Sikorsky Aircraft. The United States Navy is investigating the feasibility of procuring a new Blade Restraint System (BRS) with the following improved characteristics: 1) Minimize total weight of a new BRS. 2) Increase Mean Time Before Failure (MTBF) to minimize logistical support and repair. 3) 99% level of availability is desired for the new BRS. Availability is defined by MTBF/ (MTBF+Mean Time To Repair (MTTR)). A goal of 5 minutes maximum installation time is desired with two people installing unit. New BRS should be designed to minimize or eliminate susceptibility to corrosion in a salt environment. Simple design with few parts. The Government is looking for potential sources for this requirement. All interested parties should send company?s capability and/or descriptive literature, as well as any comments or questions to Nancy Delaney, e-mail: Nancy.Delaney@navy.mil, fax: (732) 323-2359 or address: Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Contracts, Code 25221ND, B562-3, Hwy 547, Lakehurst, NJ 08733-5082. All responses should be received no later than 4:00 PM EST, 7 September 2006. All questions and comments must be in writing, no telephone calls, email is acceptable. All contractors seeking award must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) Database. For CCR information, contact the CCR Registration Assistance Center (RAC), at 888-227-2423 or for CCR registration at: http://www.ccr.dlis.dla.mil. The Government will not pay for any information received in response to this request, nor will the Government compensate any respondent for any costs incurred in developing the information provided to the Government.
