Description

The National Park Service intends to issue a prospectus for a new ten-year contract term for commercial visitor services at the North Rim in Grand Canyon National Park. The prospectus will generally cover the services and facilities currently operated by Xanterra Parks and Resorts, Inc. Parties interested in submitting an offer for this business opportunity can view the properties during a scheduled site visit on Thursday, October 12, 2006. The National Park Service expects to issue the prospectus prior to the beginning of the 2007 operating season, when facilities will be inaccessible due to winter weather. A pre-bid site visit has been scheduled in order to allow interested parties an opportunity to see the facilities while they are open. The site visit will begin at 9 a.m. in the auditorium of the main lodge and will conclude no later than 5:00 p.m. Following an overview of the business opportunity, and an explanation of the bidding process, there will be an opportunity to tour some of the related facilities. The National Park Service Concessions Management Improvement Act of 1998 brings more competition into the concessions contracting process. As a result of this Act, the current concessioner does not have a preference in the renewal of its contract. This will be the first competitive bidding process for this business opportunity Facilities included as part of this business opportunity are the historic main lodge with 223 lodging units including historic cabins and motel rooms, restaurant, caf?, bar, gift shop, camper store, shower and laundry, service station, and employee housing. The average annual gross receipts for the past three years from this operation is approximately 8.1 million dollars.
