- Numerous questions were received in regards to the combined synopsis/solicitation. The relevant questions, along with their answers, are posted below. The closing date and time remains as 12:00 PM EST on 25 August 2006. Question: Do you have any information on the chassis size of the servers required (1U, 2U, 4U, etc.)? Answer: 2U. Question: CLIN 0017 & CLIN 0036: Do you have any further detailed information on the rack required? Answer: 2 ea – Universal Racks, 42U rackable space, 24" x 42" x 80", 19" wide rack with 1000 mm depth and standard square holes on the RETMA rails, power strips, rear/front doors with removable side panels, stabilizer panels, cable holes in roof, cable management arm mounting kit, and leveling feet. Question: Remote Lights-Out Board” is this requirement solid or will you accept a product that is equal to as a replacement. Answer: A product that is equal will be accepted. Question: Is there a preferred vendor for this solicitation? Answer: No. Question: What chipset for the processors is being specified, Xeon or Opteron? Answer: Either is acceptable. Question: Can you use an external USB floppy? Answer: Yes. Question: You are calling out SCSI. Most of the new system recently introduced are either SAS or SATA. Can these be substituted for the SCSI devices? Answer: Yes. Question: All of the new systems on the market support Dual-Core processors, which are faster, less costly and use less power and do not support SCSI...Would you be interested in these solutions? Answer: Yes. Question: What OS will these servers be running? Answer: The OS will be Windows 2003 both standard and enterprise. Question: Is a Dual Core Acceptable? Answer: Yes. Question: For the systems that are required for Germersheim, Germany and Yokosuka, Japan, is there a CONUS address that these systems would be delivered to and, further, will the government be responsible for transferring the systems to their final destinations in Germany and Japan? Answer: The OCONUS delivers will be made to the consolidation points in either New Cumberland or San Joaquin. The government will then ship them to the OCONUS locations. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (18-AUG-2006); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
