- NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD TO MOTOROLA The Department of Energy (DOE), Oak Ridge Office (ORO) proposes to contract with Motorola, Inc.. ORO currently has a contract with Motorola, Inc. for Wide Area Radio equipment, which was competitively awarded effective November 23, 2004, and now requires a spare GPS unit for the Radio Simulcast System. Motorola is the only supplier of a compatible product. Firms who want to challenge the sole-source must submit an interest letter that demonstrates their firm???s ability to provide an equivalent service and rationale as to why they should be considered, as described above. All interested firms must respond by 2:00 PM (EST), September 7, 2006, to Carol Jennings, AD-424, U.S. Department of Energy, 200 Administration Rd., Oak Ridge, TN 37830. Email: jenningscs@oro.doe.gov The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.5. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within ten days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
