Description

The Great Lakes Acquisition Center (GLAC) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Leica Micro Systems, of Bannockburn, Illinois, for the purchase of a Leica ASP300 Tissue Processor System, for the Edward Hines Jr., VA Hospital, Hines, Illinois. The subject ASP300 Tissue Processor System provides unique features that minimizes the potential for chemical exposure by having the capability to automatically fill reagent bottles from bulk containers, as well as remote drainage capabilities, thus minimizing risk of exposure/direct contact with solvents used in tissue processing in the pathology and laboratory service department. This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR 6.302 - only one responsible source and no other vendor will satisfy agency requirements. NAICS 339111. To the best of our knowledge, Leica Micro Systems, of Bannockburn, Illinois is the only source that provides a system which includes the above indicated items and features. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within ten (10) calendar days from the date of publication of this synopsis. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. Information can be sent to the Contracting Officer, VAMC-GLAC, Building 5, 5000 W. National Ave. Bldg. 5, Milwaukee WI 53295 or via fax to (414) 902-5440. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the GLAC will proceed with the sole source negotiation with Leica Micro Systems, of Bannockburn, Illinois.
