- The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Fogarty International Center (FIC) has a requirement to purchase the Supplement to the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene ?Defining and Defeating the Intolerable Burden of Malaria: Progress and Perspectives? from American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene, 10900 Euclid Ave., Room W137, Cleveland, OH 44106. In producing and printing this supplement, the Contractor shall: 1) Communicate with editors and sponsors as required; 2) Correspond with the authors and reviewers and check galley proofs; 3) Copyedit and print 8500 copies of the supplement (including copyediting, cover design, typesetting, coding, test and cover stock, printing materials, illustrations, binding, and mailing setup); 4) Mail the supplement to American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene members and subscribers; 5) Provide an additional 5,500 copies for distribution and ship to members of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene; 6) Publish the supplement online on AJTMH website at same time or before the print version is shipped; 7) Post the supplement on PubMed Central six months after publication; 8) Produce 1,500 CD-ROMs of the supplement for distribution by FIC. The papers to be included in this supplement are in the process of being written or have already been written by various authors, and have been approved for publication by the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (AJTMH). Therefore, due to copyright law and agreements between the authors and the AJTMH, the supplement shall be compiled and produced by the AJTMH similar to reprints. Interested vendors may identify in writing their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting Office prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responses received, before the closing date of this announcement, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. It is anticipated that the Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-06-1009 will be available fifteen (15) days after the release of the RFQ. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is September 25, 2006. Request for copies of the RFQ must be in writing to the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, 6707 Democracy Blvd., Room 775, Bethesda, MD 20817 Attention: Patricia Haun.
