- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) William J. Hughes Technical Center Wide/Local Area Augmentation Group, ATO-P is primarily responsible for the integration and testing of the Wide Area Augmentation Systems (WAAS). The WAAS, is a safety- critical system that will provide a quality of navigation information never before available to the aviation community. It is what the name implies, a geographically expansive augmentation to the basic GPS signals. This system will allow GPS to be used as a primary means of navigation for en-route travel and non-precision approaches in the US, as well as precision approaches to selected airports throughout the nation. The Wide/Local Area Augmentation Group, ATO-P intends to acquire the following equipment to carry out its mission: See Attachment#-1 This is a full and open competitive requirement. Award will be based on the lowest Firm-Fixed Price responsive/responsible offeror for all items listed including shipping. Interested parties who can meet the requirement called for in this announcement must submit their proposals by e-mail to William.Bleda@faa.gov by 2:00 PM EST. 8/11/2006. The FAA SHALL NOT be liable for any costs associated with the preparation of responses to the request for information, nor reimburse or otherwise pay any costs associated with the preparation of responses to the request for information, nor reimburse or otherwise pay any costs incurred by any party responding to this announcement.
