Description
The Government is seeking professional design services from an architect-engineering firm to develop working drawings and specifications to upgrade the ventilation of the SPD area on the Ground Floor of Building 1, University Drive Division. This work includes but is not limited to architectural, mechanical, asbestos abatement, electronic and electrical modifications. Specifically the project will include a new air handling unit in a rooftop location; modifications to provide adequate negative and positive pressure areas as per VA criteria; provide positive, negative and humidification alarms; installation of VAV boxes within spaces while taking into consideration their placement with respect to infection control measures necessary for installation, and investigate areas for true air curtains. Design shall be in compliance with all applicable building codes and VA design standards. All designs shall be compliant with space criteria referenced in VA Handbook 7610. The A/E is responsible for providing certified industrial hygiene services to perform asbestos survey sampling, development of specifications and drawings, and construction period services. All designs shall be accomplished in accordance with VA guidlines and specifications which are available on the Internet at http://www.va.gov/facmgt/standard. A/E shall pay particular attention to USAF, NFPA, BOCA, VA Handbook 7610 space criteria and VA Program Guide PG-18-14 "Room Finishes, Door and Hardware Schedule". The architect-engineer will make site visits as necessary to survey existing conditions as required to determine existing as-built conditions affecting this project. A/E shall field verify every aspect that relates to the project, coordinate visits with the Project Engineer. A/E must be proficient in the use of AutoCad 2000 and have access to Microsoft Word 5.0 or higher. Estimated cost of construction is $1,000,000 - $2,000,000. Area of consideration is restricted to within sixty (60) miles of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, University Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15240. Those interested firms, both small and large, within the area of consideration shall submit three (3) copies of current SF 330 to the attention of Cheryl Ebert (Contracting Officer) 04A1-H, VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
