- Description
- The Air Force District of Washington Medical Support Branch (AFDW/A7KM) intends to award a sole source Indefinite Delivery / Indefinite Quantity contract to Applied Biosystems, 850 Lincoln Center Drive, Foster City, CA 94404, to deploy up to twenty (20) Fast Real-Time (RT) Prelimerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Systems capable of rapid detection of avian influenza in the human population. In addition to the required support/ability to provide 24/7 worldwide training, technical support, and maintenance, the systems must be capable of providing high throughput (defined as at least 30 individual pathogen samples) using a single machine, and the subsequent ability to process at least five (5) simultaneous patient samples for use with a flu planel assay at such time as one is cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The device must be FDA cleared for use with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s H5N1 assay and protocol, and be capable of being used within the CDC Laboratory Response Network for its future flu panel. Applied Biosystems is the unique designer, developer, and manufacturer of this product. Items are to be delivered to military medical treatment facilities (MTFs). This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 10 USC 2304 (c)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
