- NASA/MSFC has a requirement for purchase, labor, hydro and seat test of a trim upgrade kit for existing CCI control valve. NASA/MSFC intends to purchase the items from Control Components, Inc. on a sole source basis. This is a complete trim upgrade kit that is manufactured by this company and familiarity with the unit as well as special tools and fixtures for its manufacture are available. Control Components, Inc. control valves are custom engineered to fit application and piping requirements and to eliminate the problems of noise, cavitation and vibration by effectively controlling fluid velocity. The company has previously supplied an 8 x 8 quiet control valve. The item to be purchased shall be fully compatible for exchange of parts with the existing Control Components Inc 8 x 8 barestem valve. The disk stack trim fits directly into the existing 8 x 8 barestem valve. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to Judith Drabkin at Judith.R.Drabkin@nasa.gov or fax 256-544-4401 no later than 4:30 p.m. CST on August 09, 2006. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
