- The purpose of this amendment is to post questions received for this RFQ and the Government's answers to those questions. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged and in full force and effect. -------------- Question 1: I need info on the gas being pumped. It is mentioned that the system will be used to pump on liquid He-4 cryostats. I believe that means the vacuum space of the cryostat only, not the He-4 itself. Nowhere else does it mention the gas (including in the pumping speed requirement spec), so I assume it's only air. But, just in case, I'd like to have confirmation rather than regrets. Answer 1: In the final application, the gases being pumped will be ambient atmosphere, nitrogen, and Helium-4. The pumping speed specification would ideally be for all three conditions; however, due to possible difficulties in evaluating pumping speed of Helium, the pumping speed specification is for "air." Question 2: Is it acceptable to use the closest IP-rated enclosure (rather than NEMA 1)? Is there a reason for specking NEMA-rated magnetic starters instead of IEC-rated starters? That is, are these absolute specs or is there any room for alternates? Answer 2: NEMA or IEC rated starters are acceptable.
