Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) has a requirement to purchase two CCD digital cameras, the Roper HQ2 camera, that are integrated with the existing IP-lab software. The purchase of this instrument from Biovision Technologies, Inc., 80 W. Welsh Pool Road, Suite 101N, Exton, PA 19341, is requested to continue studies within the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Biophysics. The laboratory studies fundamental biological processes that are directly interconnected with utilization of realtime imaging of fluorescently tagged molecules in live cells and tissues. In connection with these studies, the laboratory has built high-end microscopy system equipped with environmental gas, temperature and humidity controls around Zeiss LSM510/Meta multiphoton microscope and developed a new way to enhance the system by accommodating the total internal fluorescent microscopy method. This method provides superior optical resolution as well as ultrafast image acquisition and requires the use of interchangeable CCD cameras to accommodate any specific need. The combination of both imaging methods introduces unique possibilities to obtain 3-dimensional structural imaging with ultrafast time-lapse imaging in the same samples using the same environmental controls and chambers. The level of complexity of the experiment is so high that the lab must use only cameras that will work with existing software. To the best of the Government?s knowledge the proposed contractor is the only known source that can provide the integrated components. Interested vendors may identify in writing their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting Office prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however; all responses received, before the closing date, of this announcement will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. It is anticipated that the Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-06-1017 will be available fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is September 22, 2006. Request for copies of the RFQ must be in writing to the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, 6707 Democracy Blvd., Room 775, Bethesda, MD 20817 Attention: Patricia Haun. FAX quotations must contain offeror?s name, address, telephone number and fax number. FAX quotations will be accepted if dated and signed by an authorized company representative. FAX NUMBER 301-480-8502.
