- Description
- Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), operated by Battelle Memorial Institute under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy, solicits interest from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture and market the following technology. License rights may be issued on an exclusive or non-exclusive basis and may include specific fields of use. PNNL may also be available to licensee(s) to assist in further research and development of the technology under a sponsored research agreement. VZIN (Visualization with-IN) brings advanced visualization capabilities to the everyday information worker to accelerate the exploration, management, and analysis of large datasets. VZIN quickly and automatically conveys the major themes of large sets of numerical or textual data in a familiar environment with a common look and feel. There are a few powerful visualization tools already on the market but none that we believe to integrate as seamlessly and effortlessly into the Microsoft Windows environment. VZIN addresses key difficulties with analytic software products which are well known to the visual analytics community: the learning curve, integration with desktop tools, and data importing. VZIN capabilities can be used directly from a variety of common software tools (e.g. Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, Analyst Notebook etc). VZIN leverages the capabilities of the ?host? application. For example VZIN for Microsoft Excel allows the user to extend advanced features within Excel so that thematic analysis and visualization can be performed on spreadsheet data. VZIN uses familiar interaction techniques which have become intuitive to users. For example; users of VZIN Desktop Tools for Windows can drag and drop files into VZIN, view the key themes and their relationships, and instruct VZIN to reorganize the files thematically. Note: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. Any company interested in licensing this technology must respond with a letter of interest (may be submitted by e-mail) no later than 15 days from the publication date of this notice summarizing the company?s business and technical expertise and motivation for pursuing this opportunity. Companies deemed appropriate will be provided with further information on the technology. Such information will require an executed Nondisclosure Agreement. Respondent(s) will be notified of their selection as potential business partners based on initial diligence efforts. Companies to be considered further will be asked to respond to a request for business case/plan within 30 days after the request is sent. The request will contain specific selection criteria, including but not limited to plans for investment in product development, the marketing strategy for penetration into the market, as well as the revenue strategy and projected revenue stream related to this new technology and IP. Please send letters or emails of interest to the attention of the POC identified within this Notice.
