The subcontractor will assist in tasks associated with the Underground Test Area (UGTA)of the Nevada Test Site (NTS), Nye County, Nevada. The subcontractor must have groundwater flow and transport modeling expertise to support the development and implementation of a groundwater transport model for the groundwater flow system in the Frenchman Flat (FF) area, Phase II Corrective Action Unit (CAU) at NTS. Specifically, the scope is to do the following: 1. Conduct FEHM and Plumecalc simulations on the UGTA cluster with an UGTA supplied laptop and in accordance with SNJV Cyber Security procedures. 2. Document modeling and data products in accordance with UGTA procedures. 3. Help prepare and present status reports and briefings to the client and pre-emptive review committee. 4. Prepare, as directed, sections of text and graphics for the FF Phase II transport model report. Requirements include: PhD in Geosciences/Environmental Engineering; experience with radionuclide transport; experience in developing and implementing groundwater flow and transport models using the FEHM computer code; experience in implementing complex models on a Linux computer cluster; and excellent communication skills related to report writing as evidenced by publication history. In addition to these requirements, the following qualifications are highly desirable: working knowledge of groundwater flow in the NTS area; Department of Energy (DOE) Q-clearance; and experience in working under modeling and document quality control procedures, and DOE cyber security procedures.
