- SUBJECT: PARTICIPATE IN THE COMMITTEE ON EARTH RESOURCES (CER) FOR THE NATIONAL ACADEMIES OF SCIENCES/NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL (NAS/NRC) DESC: The U.S. Department of Energy???s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), Pittsburgh, PA intends to award a purchase order on a sole-source basis to The National Academy of Science, Washington, DC to purchase the following for the purpose of the Department of Energy (DOE) to participate in the Committee on Earth Resources (CER). This purchase order is being issued to The National Academy of Science to participate in a highly reputable, scientific committee responsible for providing analysis and recommendations relevant to the supply, delivery, and associated impacts of issues related to energy, metallic, and nonmetallic mineral. The CER (1) monitors the status of mineral and energy resource affairs; (2) identifies study opportunities and responds to requests from federal agencies; and (3) provides unique avenues for professional contributions from the scientific and technical community to government. The CER accomplishes this through two mechanisms: (1) NRC reports, and (2) meetings, workshops, and symposia. This is a sole source to The National Academy of Sciences because this is the only vendor that conducts the meetings, workshops and sysmpsia. All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by this agency. All interested firms must respond to DE-RQ26-06NT00841. Offerors shall provide sufficient technical literature, documents, etc., in order for the Government evaluation team to make an adequate technical assessment of the quote as meeting technical acceptability. Therefore, no solicitation will result with this announcement. This award shall be made using FAR 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The North American Industry Classification (NAIC) is 813920.
