Please see attached Statement of work ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS AND REPRESENTATIONS: Project/Protocol: Exploring Decision Making Of Hispanics an d African Americans with HIV/AIDS Participating in Clinical Trials (Just approved, need to start ASAP, 06 $ reserved fo r this project) In this study, we propose examining the decision making proc esses of Hispanics and African Americans with HIV/AIDS aroun d their decision to enter a clinical trial in an effort to d evelop a future instrument to measure decision making in thi s population. This is a descriptive, exploratory mixed metho ds study designed to examine the decision-making process amo ng a convenience sample of minority patients who are enrolle d in active HIV/AIDS protocols. The purpose of this procurement is to obtain contractor serv ices to support the work of the project / protocol, in parti cular the data collection phase. B REQUIREMENTS NEEDED OF THE CONTRACTOR: 1. Perform all requirements listed per the time line provide d. 2. Request a dedicated person from the selected contract com pany to be fully available to the PI and this project. Specifically the contractor will need to: 1. Contact the patients to ask if they are interested in par ticipating in this study 2. Arrange for a facility to hold focus groups and several a dditional small rooms for in-depth interviews 3. Manage the compensation for recognition of time 4. Provide concordance of moderator and focus group particip ants 5. Moderate the 6 focus groups (Migdalia Rivera-Goba, PI, wi ll be the co-moderator). PI will provide moderators guide an d instructions. " Group #1: English-speaking, African-American females. " Group #2: English-speaking, African-American males. " Group #3: Spanish-speaking, Hispanic females. " Group #4: Spanish-speakers, Hispanic males. " Group #5: English-speaking, Hispanic females. " Group #6: English-speaking, Hispanic males. 7. Transcribe all the focus group tapes. 8. After each focus group, tapes in Spanish are transcribed, additionally, must translate and transcribe into English. 9. In Phase 2 of the study NIH research team will conduct al l the in-depth interviews; however contractor will transcrib e all the Phase 2 in-depth interview tapes. 10. After each in-depth interview, tapes in Spanish are tran scribed, additionally, must translate and transcribe into En glish. 11. Contractor will provide all notes and/or observations fr om the focus groups to the PI, in hard copy and CD. 12. Contractor will provide all audiotapes from the focus gr oups to the PI. 13. Contractor will provide a hard copy of all the transcrip tions and translations, as well as providing the same inform ation on CD's. Project Timeline: September '06 - October '06: Study begins October '06 - December '06: Patient recruitment and conduct focus groups (Note: The PI will provide the contractor with a list of na mes of patients to contact). Set up focus group sessions: " Two back-to-back focus groups per day (for six focus group s, this will require three days) " All six focus groups will be conducted within a three week period Deliverables Timeline: " Within 24 hours of the focus group completion: Final har d copy and CD of notes / observations will given to the PI. " Within 5 working days after focus groups/in-depth intervie ws are held: Final hard copy and CD of the transcribed tape s will be given to the PI, along with the audio tapes (Engli sh to English). " Within 2 weeks after the focus groups/in-depth interviews are held: Final hard copy and CD of the transcriptions in S panish, translation and transcription into English, will be given to the PI, along with all audio tapes. Everything will be keep strictly confidential. All document produced are property of the Federal Government and must be returned to the PI upon completion of the project. If there are discrepancies, or missing data, it is the respo nsibility of the contractor to correct the problem, without seeking additional funds. Payment: Pay 1/3 up front and final 2/3 on completion of the project and return of all materials. Company must provide all equipment supplies and space necess ary to do the job. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: Period of Performance for this purchase order will be: Septe mber 25, 2006 until March 1, 2007.
