Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement to purchase a Microsource rotating anode X-ray generator. The purchase of this instrument from Rigaku Americas Corporation, 9009 New Trails Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77381, is requested to continue studies in the Structural Biochemistry section. This device has an electron focal spot size not larger than 70 micron X 700 microns, so that optimum X-ray flux density and beam divergence can be achieved through a 0.25 mm collimator after 3-fold magnification that is fixed by a current VariMax-HF X-ray optical system. The generator must accept loading of 1.2 kW at this source size. The generator has to provide geometry, such that the mid-point of the VariMax-HF X-ray optical system is 145 mm from the X-ray source point on the target surface. In order to reduce vibration effects and therefore achieve maximum source stability, the X-ray generator must be of a direct drive type. The generator must be equipped with automatic focusing voltage (bias) control in order to achieve optimum electron beam focusing and pre-aligned and pre-crystallized filaments must be available. Manual filament alignment procedures are not acceptable and the X-ray shutter systems supplied with the generator must be compatible and work with the interlock system of the existing radiation enclosure. The X-ray shutter must not open when a user is inside of the enclosure. To the best of the Government?s knowledge the proposed contractor is the only known source that can provide the components that are needed. Interested vendors may identify in writing their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting Office prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however; all responses received, before the closing date, of this announcement will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. It is anticipated that the Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-06-1037 will be available fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ. The anticipated award date is September 26, 2006. Request for copies of the RFQ must be in writing to the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, 6707 Democracy Blvd., Room 775, Bethesda, MD 20817 Attention: Patricia Haun. FAX quotations must contain offeror?s name, address, telephone number and fax number. FAX quotations will be accepted if dated and signed by an authorized company representative. FAX NUMBER 301-480-8502.
