Description
The United States Geological Survey, Menlo Park, CA intends to make a non-competitive award to the Department of Geology at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale (SIUC) located at 1000 Faner Drive, Carbondale, IL 62901 for non-personal services to provide residual magnetic anomaly data for both Eastern and Western U.S. This non-personal service is for one base year with a period of performance of 09/18/2006 to 09/30/2007 and one option year. The project is to be completed by 09/30/2008. Southern Illinois University, Carbondale is the only organization capable of processing and verifying the surveys. In concert with NASA, Southern Illinois University has developed state-of-the-art techniques for deriving long-wavelengths of magnetic anomalies from a combination of marine, aeromagnetic and satellite altitude magnetic data. These are the most accurate techniques in the world for accurately deriving residual magnetic anomalies from surveys carried out over different epochs and merging data from different surveys. Using the NURE (National Uranium Resources Evaluation) surveys of the continental US, the Geophysics group at SIUC will merge the surveys nearly seamlessly, accurately preserving the intermediate and long-wavelength magnetic anomaly fields. The Government intends to award this requirement non-competitively IAW FAR 13.106-1(b)(2). Other interested concerns having the ability to furnish these services may submit a capabilities statement no later than the closing date of this announcement. All submissions will be evaluated to determine if competitive opportunities exist. This is NOT an RFQ; no written solicitation will be issued. This may represent the Government's only written notice of this procurement. All responses must be in writing by facsimile to Sasha Klingler at (916) 278-9339 or email sklingler@usgs.gov. This procurement is dependent upon the availability of funds.
