Description
STATEMENT OF WORK TASK 1 ? Support of Test Planning and Execution. The Contractor shall provide advice regarding the experimental setup(s) and test plans. Care must be taken to design the experimental apparatus and measurements so that the data obtained be useful to the CFD community, as well as safe to the operators and others in the vicinity of the testing. During the experiments, the Contractor shall provide assistance with the setup and operation of laser projector systems to provide the necessary illumination of the water?s free-surface. Additional prominent flow features, specified by the Navy, will also be illuminated. TASK 2 ? Instrumentation Rental. Provide two or more Melles-Griot diode-pumped solid state YAG laser, 3.0 Watts at a wavelength of 532nm, Model: MLM-0532 as agreed upon between the contractor and government to support testing. Note that this particular model laser is an integral, drop in, component to a custom designed projection system that is used on various experiments and can?t be changed without considerable expense. The Contractor shall provide personnel, hardware, and software to generate the necessary illumination of the flow fields of interest. Dr. Thomas Fu will identify this area of interest. Laser sheet dimensions and scanning rates will be determined at the time of testing by the Contractor and Dr. Thomas Fu. DELIVERABLES Laser and operator services will be provided as agreed upon between the Government and the Contractor. Government request will be relayed to the contractor at least one month prior to the date of testing, identifying the test setup, number of lasers and number of operators required. Task 1 deliverables - Technical input into test planning document(s), consultation and communication with the government technical representative on recommendations for test processes, procedures, and techniques. Task 2 deliverables ? Instrumentation (lasers, computers, projectors, etc) and software as dictated by the test setup and agreed upon by the contractor and government technical representative, operation of the laser during test and set up periods, and a summary report at the end of testing of any laser issues and recommendations on future improvements in testing / laser set ups. GOVERNMENT FURNISHED INFORMATION (GFI) The Government will provide the Contractor with on-site access and the necessary information for the successful accomplishment of the work specified above, primarily through discussions with the Carderock Division technical personnel and by providing copies of documentation. GOVERNMENT FURNISHED OFFICE SPACE None. TRAVEL It is anticipated that this task will require three (3) round trips for two (2) to four (4) days each to Washington, DC. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE The effective date of this delivery order is from the date of award through 15 October 2008. SECURITY All work under this delivery order is unclassified.
