Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Coherent, Inc., Santa Clara, CA, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) Only One Source Reasonably Available to implement service maintenance agreements for seven (7) 10W Verdi Laser Systems and one (1) 5W Verdi Laser System; specifically, the service maintenance agreement will be implemented for a one (1) year period with one (1) 1-year option period and will include labor, parts, travel, 12-mos. or 3,000-hrs. (whichever comes first) and priority replacement service if a system cannot be fixed on-site during the first attempt. As the original manufacturer, the Contractor is the only source offering: a) all required replacement parts for the instrument; and, b) a staff of fully trained technicians and engineers completely familiar with the instrument who can offer immediate assistance, ensuring minimal instrument downtime. A fixed price purchase order will be issued on or about Oct. 23, 2006. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement, in writing, no later than the response date. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill the requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice of intent is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ) nor is it a request for competition.
