Description

FA8629-06-C-2366. RDA Cables. This is a presolicitation synopsis. The Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC), Battlefield Airmen Squadron (670 AESS) intends to award a contract on a sole source basis to Smartronix to provide 315 Radio Data Adapter (RDA) cables. The RDA cable combines the functions of several existing cables into one multi-functional cable in order to transmit data from a computer through the PRC-117F or PRC-148 radios. This allows the computer to perform four different radio interface tasks using a single USB connection. This provides the benefits of reduced weight, reduced power requirements, quicker radio setup, lower cost (due to using fewer separate cables) and simplified radio operations. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. The government intends to award the effort pursuant to the authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 since Smartronix is the only firm that currently manufactures these cables. The proposed contractual action has a expected period of performance of 12 months.
