Description
The U.S. Army TACOM-Picatinny, Picatinny Center for Contracting and Commerce in support of the U.S. Army Research Development Engineering Command ??? Armament Research Development and Engineering Center (RDECOM-ARDEC) is conducting a Market Survey to identify potential sources an ISO 18000-7 compliant RFID tag. 1.0 SUBJECT Request for Information (RFI) for an ISO 18000-7 compatible RFID tag or family of tags. Responses are due to this RFI by 4:00 PM on September 29, 2006. See section 4.0 for further information. 2.0 DESCRIPTION The Logistics Research and Development Directorate is interested in emerging ISO 18000-7 compatible tags. The Logistics Research and Development Directorate is seeking information on current or future RFID tags that utilize or will utilize this protocol for possible use in future demonstrations. Specifically, this RFI seeks the following information: Information on the capabilities of the compatible tag(s) ?? Features of the tag (data storage, sensors, environmental hardening, location beacon, etc.) ?? Cost of the tag in quantities of 1, 10, and 100. ?? Technical readiness level (TRL) of the tag ?? Estimated delivery date for 10 tags ?? Life span of the tag and power source ?? Tag weight ?? Tag dimensions ?? Existing product brochures 3.0 REQUIREMENTS This section enumerates the high-level functional requirements for a response to this RFI. ?? The tag will be compatible with the ISO 18000-7 air interface protocol. ?? The tag will be powered by battery or other self contained power supply. ?? The tag will not violate FCC regulations. 4.0 SAMPLE RESPONSE OUTLINE Following is a suggested outline and suggested page counts for a response to this RFI. This outline is intended to minimize the effort of the respondent and structure the responses for ease of analysis by the government. Nevertheless, respondents are free to develop their response as they see fit. Section 1 ??? Conceptual Alternatives Briefly describe the proposed RFID tag including the reliability and availability characteristics of the alternatives. Discuss the capability for the tag to expand to meet unknown future needs. Section 2 ??? Feasibility Assessment Briefly describe the feasibility of the mass production and maintenance of the proposed tag. Section 3 ??? Cost and Schedule Estimates Provide cost estimates for each proposed tag for 5 and 10-year contract fielding non-recurring and annual recurring costs based on a tag population of 100 and 1000 tags. Also, discuss cost drivers, cost tradeoffs, and schedule considerations. Section 4 ??? Corporate Expertise Briefly describe your company, your products and services, history, ownership, financial information, and other information you deem relevant. (no suggested page count) In particular, please describe any projects you have been involved in that are similar in concept to what is described in this RFI, including management and operations approach, security requirements, security assurance processes, and any relevant lessons learned (1-2 pages per project). Include any comments on the structure of the requirements for a formal RFP response. Section 5 ??? Additional Materials Please provide any other materials, suggestions, and discussion you deem appropriate.
