Description
The US Army, Office of the Project Manager Combat Ammunition Systems is seeking sources that have the capability (forging/machining) to manufacture mortar cartridge shell bodies to support the 120mm Battalion M934A1/M933A1 High Explosive (HE), M931 Full Range Practice (FRP), M929 Smoke, and M983/M930 Illuminating Mortar Cartridge programs. A new planned buy is anticipated for Fiscal Year 2007 including a basic contract with 4 evaluated/priced options. Initial delivery is planned to be within twelve months from date of award for the basic contract with option deliveries running the same pattern. Anticipated minimum per month production rates per cartridge are: 12K High Explosive, 12K Full Range Practice, 8K Smoke, and 3K Illuminating, one type at a time. Increase in production capacity is desired. Required inspections will include 100% ultrasonic testing and hydrostatic testing. Current 120mm shell bodies are produced by GD-OTS (formerly Chamberlain Manufacturing Company), Scranton, PA under Contract DAAE30-02-C-1001. Information in general to be submitted should include your organization, name/address/point of contact identification, capabilities, facilities, successful experience in forging same or similar mortar cartridge shell bodies, inspection capability, and whether the company is a small or large business. Responders also must specifically address capabilites/experience in same or similar shell body manufacture: in delivery shell bodies in accordance with the above delivery schedule; descriptions/availability of mechanical and hydraulic presses for forging and forming/heat treating and finishing equipment used/available; and current production rates.
