Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announces its intention to negotiate and issue a sole source award for the requirement of 15 pig-tail macaques with Emory/Yerkes National Primate Research Center, Atlanta, GA. The contractor will also be required to conduct a pre-clinical, topical microbicide intervention study to 1) Evaluate soluble DC-SIGN for the prevention of mucosal SHIV transmission in a repeat challenge macaque model of HIV-infection, 2) Evaluate the immunologic kinetics at peripheral and mucosal sites, 3) Evaluate combination topical microbicide/oral ARV intervention to block SHIV infection in a repeat exposure macaque model of HIV-1 infection, and 4) conduct a retrospective evaluation of immunologic kinetics in oral TDF-treated macaques. The purpose of the study is to develop an assay or combination of methods to evaluate potential mucosal factors that inhibit HIV-infection. Emory/Yerkes National Primate Research Center is the only source to provide the specific non-human primates, quantity, and critical timeframe for this study deemed necessary by CDC. CDC intends to negotiate this requirement with Emory/Yerkes National Primate Research Center under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, HHSAR 306.302-1, and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). The sole source procurement will be awarded as a simplified acquisition in accordance with FAR Subpart 13 procedures. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination to compete this procurement based on a response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Interested parties who believe they possess the capabilities to satisfy this requirement should submit a capability statement demonstrating their abilities to meet this requirement. All responses should be received by the closing date of this synopsis to be considered by CDC. All responses must be in writing and can be sent via email to bbv9@cdc.gov or fax to 404-639-8095. No phone calls will be accepted. Note: 22 NOTE: THIS NOTICE MAY HAVE POSTED ON FEDBIZOPPS ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (08-AUG-2006).
