ITEM DESCRIPTION: FORM/FIT/FUNCTION: SEGMENTED ABRADABLE LINER THAT PROVIDES 5TH STAGE COMPRESSOR CASE MARGIN/AIR SEAL AGAINST 5TH STAGE COMPRESSOR BLADES. SIZE/DIMENSIONS: 8 INCHES LONG X 2 INCHES WIDE. PREDOMINANT MATERIAL: AMS 5571 NICKEL ALLOY. APPLICABLE TO: F100-PW-229 ENGINE. QUANTITY: 30. DESTINATION: FMS. DELIVERY: DECEMBER 2007. The proposed contract action is for supplies and services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Complete data to manufacture this part is not available. This part requires manufacturing and processing acceptance data that is separate from the blueprint and not owned by the Government. This data is required by the manufacturing source to ensure part reliability. This part must be supplied by Pratt & Whitney to retain unique design capability, engineering skills and manufacturing knowledge that is not known to the Government. Missing data is not available and is not economically obtainable. A Determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The approximate issue date of the solicitation will be 20 Sep 2006. The approximate response date of the solicitation will be 5 Oct 2006. The solicitation will be available for download on the release date from www.fedbizops.gov. No telephone requests. Hardcopies of the solicitation will not be sent from this office.
