Description

The U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for a portable laboratory that is rugged enough to withstand the rigors of off road utilization, long durations of use, utilizes materials that will not emit chemicals to bias samples, custom built to meet the governments unique operations, is self contained and provide proper safety lighting to work on bridges. A 8x12 foot trailer custom built utilizing lightweight aluminum frame design, due to remote locations and independent power source is required, will require limited exposure to the environment therefore require air conditioning and heating. Metal cabinets provided will reduce gases from fiberboard materials, a patented cable door will be used to allow tubing from wells to be brought into the lab without exposing the interior to atmospheric contamination, Avantec rubber floors that can withstand chemical and water spills, fiberglass insulation to reduce fire hazard. Based on information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers this requirement specified as a sole source from Techline Engineering, 1245 W. North Street, Bremen, IN 46506 and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the requirement described herein or its functional equivalent (based upon the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials, which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, requests for such document without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Government's only official notice to the procurement.
