Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center(NSWCIH), Indian Head, MD. intends to award a Sole Source Purchase Order to Thermo Electron Corporation for Bolometer Detector. This detector will be used to monitor far-infrared signals using fourier-transform interferometric spectroscopy. The special range of interest is 700cm-1 to 50cm-1. The bolometer and optics, including a solid-substrate beamsplitter must be professionally installed. In the far-insfrared, water vapor aborption is deleterious to signal acquisition. The detector should flush-mount to the existing Nicolet 870 FTIR spectrometer to allow for a continous nitrogen purge. Thermo Electron Corporation makes the Nicolet 870 FTIR spectrometer and reoutinely adds far-IR detection capability to this type of system. Thermo Electron Corporation is the only source of bolometer that can integrate its detector in to an exissting Nicolet 870 FTIR spectrometer that NSWC Indian Head has. No other bolometer from other sources will work properly in regards to software control, timing, gain, and detection setup. The applicable North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) is 334413 with a size standard of 500 employees. The FSC code is 5865.
