Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Employee Education System is currently seeking manufacturer's of transceiver equipment that will integrate with the existing SONET MAN system. The requirements are as follows: Digital fiber optic, "HOT SWAPPABLE", card based , transceivers utilizing digital time-division multiplexing technology to support bi-directional transmission AT 1310NM WAVELENGTH of 1 channel, Serial Digital Video at up to 270 Mb/sec. along with 2 channels of broadcast quality, BALANCED, LINE LEVEL, Analog, audio OVER 2 SMF FIBERS TERMINATED WITH "FC" STYLE CONNECTORS. THE VIDEO AND AUDIO TRANSMISSION STREAMS ARE TO BE COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT SUCH THAT IF VIDEO TRANSMISSION IS HALTED, AUDIO OPERATION REMAINS INTACT OR VICE VERSA. IN ADDITION, IF VIDEO OR AUDIO INPUT QUALITY IS COMPROMISED, IT WILL NOT AFFECT THE OTHER VIDEO OR AUDIO STREAM TRANSMISSION QUALITY. TRANSMISSION BANDWIDTH FOR THE UNIT SHOULD BE AT LEAST 350 MB/SEC. CARD CAGE UNIT SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM OF 18 SLOTS AND PROVIDE POWER VIA 2 POWER SUPPLY CARD UNITS (1 FOR REDUNDANT POWER) WHILE LEAVING 14 FREE SLOTS AVAILABLE FOR TRANSCEIVER INSTALLATION. Responses must be submitted to the contracting officer no later than Septmeber 13, 2006 1:00pm cst. Responses shall include a detailed product description that will allow the Government to evaluate the product and ensure compatibility. The determination to open comptition is in the sole discretion of the Government. In the event a solicitation is issued, no additional notice will be posted.
