- This amendment is issued to post answers to questions concerning solicitation number R1WH17000607, Laser Scanning of the USS San Antonio ship board space and associated vehicles and cargo. ********************************************************* Question #1. Page 8 specifies linear accuracy of +/- 0.1 ft, area accuracy of +/- 0.01 sq in and volume accuracy of +/- 0.001. We will be calculating areas and volumes based on linear measurements, and the accuracy of the calculated values cannot be tighter than the accuracy of the starting measured lengths. Also, the above linear accuracy differs from the +/- 0.025 ft requirement on page 9. Please clarify these requirements.*** Answer #1. The intent of the linear, area and volume accuracy is based on fundamental formulas. For example a linear measurement of 100 feet +/- .1 feet results in an actual measurement between 99 and 101 feet. The area of a rectangle based on these measurements would be between 9801 and 10201. If the (+/-) .1 standard were to hold on an area measurement the calculation could be off by 1000 square feet which is unacceptable. The requirement on page 9 for "(+/-) 0.025 FT" is related to the scans of vehicles, equipment and cargo. These are 3 dimensional scans of the exterior of these objects. This requirement is separate from the accuracy of the volumetric scans of the inside of the ship.********** Question #2. The basic Load Path Validation requirement from pages 9-10 is for simulation of 5 different vehicles through a total of 19 different paths, i.e. 19 separate simulations. But this section also states that ?Up to two preliminary outputs and revisions to the path sequences should be expected?. It?s not clear from this statement how many additional simulations will be required. Please clarify.*** Answer #2. In the best case scenario each simulation will be acceptable on the first try however experience indicates that some rework may be required. The statement "Up to two preliminary outputs and revisions to the path sequences should be expected" is to allow contractors to build in contingencies into the project plan.********** Question #3. The vehicles/payloads for which load path validation is required include the HMMWV, M198 howitzer, and QUADCON containers which are not required to be scanned per page 8. Will dimensional data be provided for these?*** Answer #3. On Page 8 there is a statement that reads: "Ten (10) 10 USMC vehicles/vehicle combinations (no larger than the MTVR 7.0 ton truck);" These would include the above mentioned items.********** Question #4. It is assumed that the three forklifts to be scanned per page 8 are the three specific forklifts identified under Load Path Evaluation on page 9. Is this correct? *** Answer #4.
