Description

THIS IS A REVISED POSTING (ORIGINAL posted 7-26-06) only to include brand name justification: Cepheid brand smartcycler system (2 units), model 3200, P/C SC2500N6-1 w/two processing blocks w/16 independent reaction sites including laptop computer w/life sciences software, operator's manual, tube racks, cooling block, mini-centrifuge and reaction tubes; one year service contract (after warranty expires); tubes P/N 900-0022 (1 ea); Omnimix HS sufficient for 50 reactions P/N OMNI-100N-050 (5 ea); CSR total enterococcus P/N 901-0024; CSR DNA control enterococcus P/N 901-0030; CSR lactococcus SPC P/N 901-0026. Justification for brand name: this instrument is the primary instrument used by the US EPA ORD and is the specific analytical platform to be used by the US ORD in the upcoming inter-laboratory test of the proposed EPA polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method for testing recreational waters for microbial/bactgerial water quality. The unit needs to be the same model instrument that EPA HQ is using to develop the Enterococcus method and will be required when the Office of Water promulates the new method.
