Description: SUMMARY REPORT AND CD ???APPROACHES FOR RESEARCHING THE ROLES OF MARINE AND COASTAL BIODIVERSITY IN MAINTAINING ECOSYSTREM SERVICES???. DESC: The U.S. Department of Energy???s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), Pittsburgh, PA intends to award a purchase order on a sole-source basis to The Consortium for Oceanographic Research & Education Inc., Washington, DC (CORE) for the following: Background: A program administered by the Office of Fossil Energy under EPACT Section 999 (???Ultra-Deepwater and Unconventional Natural Gas and Other Petroleum Resources???) is scheduled to begin in fiscal year 2007. One area of this program concerns ultra-deepwater technology, including drilling to formations in the Outer Continental Shelf to depths greater than 15,000 feet. Statement of Work: The Consortium for Oceanographic Research and Education (CORE), will provide a summary report from the topic of discussion ???Approaches for Researching the Roles of Marine and Coastal Biodiversity in Maintaining Ecosystems Services??? conducted by the U.S. National Committee (USNC) of the Census of Marine Life (CoML). The summary report will be organized based upon the attached agenda, providing a summary of each of the major technical sessions. CORE will also provide a copy of a CD. Deliverables: Final version of the report and a CD containing all available presentation materials. This request is considered to be sole source to The Consortium for Oceanographic Research & education Inc (CORE). All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation which shall be considered by this agency. Firms who want to challenge the sole source must submit an interest letter that demonstrates the firms ability to provide the services or work described above. Interested parties must provide rationale as to why they should be considered. Interested parties shall provide sufficient technical literature, documents, etc., in order for the Government evaluation team to make an adequate technical assessment of the quote as meeting technical acceptability. All interested firms must respond to DE-RQ26-06NT00962 by 05:00 P.M. EST, September 28, 2006. Therefore, no solicitation will result from this announcement. The North American Industrial Classification Code (NAIC) is 541910. This award shall be made using FAR 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures.
